Muottas Muragl

3 August 2024

Panorama of high alpine terrain with a small blue green lake on the left, dark gray craggy mountains dotted with a bit of old snow in the distance, and green heather dotted with white stone in the foreground.

This weekend we are visiting Sils Maria in the Engadin region of eastern Switzerland. Today I hiked from the funicular station of Muottas Muragl to Lej (Lake) Muragl: 7.76km, 397m ascent, 2h45m, 15°C ⛅️. It was a lovely hike that reached a maximum altitude of 2,750m. I saw cows, horses, and a marmot (and many fellow hikers).

View of high alpine valley with mountains in the distance. The foreground is low green vegetation mixed with stones and speckled with small yellow flowers. Closeup of some small intensely blue alpine flowers growing in between stones. View of high alpine valley clearly left behind by a glacier. The sides are green but the bottom and upper end are dark gray scree.
